Scrapbook Prompt Series -- Page 5 -- anti-camel toe leggings, pork floss, and battling inspirational quotes?
Satisfy your curiosity with me and/or smash that writer's block!
Hi, I’m Lucy Dan (she/her) and this week, I started watching Little Women (drama)1 and mostly nothing else because allergy season is here and I’m busy battling The Drowsiness. This year, I’ve switched over to a nasal spray, thinking it might be less drowsy on my body than a pill form, but it’s mostly the same. The nasal spray is more effective for me right now against the sniffles though, which is why I’ll keep at it for now. It allows me to 🌸 smell the flowers2 🌸 that are peeking out of a Canadian winter.
Rice and Soy Sauce with PORK FLOSS
the classic “struggle meal”, but instead of the popular spam, pork floss! pork floss is exactly as it sounds. think of pork in candy floss/cotton candy format. it’s not as weird as you think it is! sort of a savoury cotton candy. doesn’t quite melt on the tongue. great to mix into congees, rice and/or banh mis. definitely could put this into a wrap.
alternate: rice with cronchy peanut butter
my new obsession: watching people do pottery
someday, i will do pottery as a hobby. it’s so calming! it’s one of those hobbies that take time, quietly, surely. baked. transformed. and then reusable for many many delicious ramen bowls <3
my partner got a sous video machine
and so we made a roast…. it was good!
what do you think of this quote? 👆
ON THE ONE HAND: I like that it empowers me to take action, rather than to wait for circumstances. I will create those circumstances to the best of my abilities, instead of waiting that dice roll to fall just right.
ON THE OTHER HAND: I think this centers success on one person’s “success” without acknowledging that we need to rely on others’ support and resources to succeed. It internalizes success as a singular person’s effort without acknowledging that a lot comes to us through luck, through privilege, and through others’ support and kindness too.
SO HOW DO I RECONCILE THIS? Take the best of both worlds: a) action forward instead of waiting but b) gratitude and appreciation and giving back to others who have supported me. The journey does not have to be alone, and I do not have to wait to begin the journey.
I think blogilates (cassey) really embodied this! Instead of waiting for someone to come around with the right leggings to come along, she designed one that was anti-camel toe! Yet, she often gives back to the community and takes feedback to make sure that her products fit a variety of needs, body types! the legging in question here3
What’s inside a square egg? Do square eggs have square yolks?
sometimes I feel like square egg
Which, can I just say, is loosely based on Little Women by Louisa May Alcott but also VERY different from that storyline altogether.
Tell me about your favourite flower! I want to appreciate flowers now, despite (despite, despite) their allergen producing skill.
They’re like a hundred dollars CAD when I convert from USD, which is definitely more than I can afford for pants now. Until then.
